‘The search for a Suffolk man missing for fifteen years has today taken another twist. After two alleged sightings of Ewan Stokes, now forty-five years old, a series of three reported sightings today have been revealed as a hoax. Our reporter, Ben McAra, is in Felixstowe this evening. Ben.’

‘Thanks, Elodie. Confusion here this evening in Felixstowe as the latest in a bizarre string of so-called appearances of a missing man is proved fake. Ewan Stokes, known across the world as Stokesy, was believed to have appeared on the doorstep of the house behind me, here in Tarn Hows Close.

‘According to an eyewitness, a man dressed in a black hoodie and jeans, carrying a sign identical to that seen in earlier sightings this week, stood on the doorstep at number 3 on three occasions today. The third time, police were alerted and officers apprehended the man.

‘But any hope Stokesy’s many online followers may have had of this being the missing man were quickly dashed. It was a hoax. South Suffolk Police have confirmed that a forty-seven-year-old local man was arrested earlier today for resisting arrest and assaulting a police officer. As investigations are ongoing, his name hasn’t yet been released.

‘This throws into question all of the reported sightings across the town since the first on Sunday night. Police have this evening refused to comment further on whether the man in custody is responsible for the other appearances. Is Stokesy back in Felixstowe? Or is this an elaborate ruse? Until confirmation comes either way – or the hooded man with the HELP ME sign is spotted again – we just don’t know. Ben McAra, Early Evening News, Felixstowe.’
